What is Forex trading?
The foreign exchange (forex) market is where banks and individuals buy, sell, or exchange currencies. The forward and futures markets are primarily used by forex traders who want to speculate or hedge against future price changes in a currency. The exchange rates in these markets are based on what’s happening in the spot market, which is the largest of the forex markets and is where a majority of forex trades are executed. Longer-term changes in a currency’s value are driven by fundamental factors such as a nation’s interest rates and economic growth. The forex market is the largest, most liquid market in the world, with trillions of dollars changing hands every day. It has no centralized location, and no government authority oversees it. But suppose you were wrong, and the exchange rate decreases to 1.06 (meaning it takes 1.06 U.S. dollars to buy one euro).
